For more than 180 years, the quaint home of the Bakerville Library has stood as both a touchstone of our common past and a threshold into the future we all share.
Come see for yourself.

Hi, Darlene! Goodbye tickets! Sold Out!

SOLD OUT! Thanks to everyone for all their support!

On Saturday, September 30, 2023, the Friends of the Bakerville Library will raffle off Darlene, a 2023 Dodge Challenger R/T, in Pitch Black.

Some of Darlene's specs:

  • R/T 5.7 L HEMI® MDS VVT V8 engine – 28H.
  • 8-speed automatic 8HP70 transmission.
  • “Shaker” package.
  • Dual Black R/T Side Stripes.
  • Sirius XM Satellite Radio.

We have sold all 600 tickets!

All proceeds will benefit the Bakerville Library.

In 2012, when we held our first car raffle to benefit the library, we had no idea if we’d be able to carry it off. Could we find enough people to buy tickets? Would there be enough locations that would agree to let us park the car there? Eleven years later, we’re still facing unknowns: Will this be our last car raffle? A few years ago, when GM announced that the Dodge Challenger would “go electric,” we were too focused on the immediate raffle to worry too much. This year, we’re already thinking ahead to next year, when our raffle will be upset by manufacturing changes.

So, while we’ve got our Pitch Black 2023 Dodge Challenger, Darlene, secured, and tickets printed and ready to sell, we’re thinking, too, of what’s to come next. Our formula has worked for many years:

  • a dream car that appeals to our nostalgia and our fortitude
  • a price that allows us to offer great odds at winning
  • ticket buyers who purchase faithfully every year, for different reasons
  • a car that can be driven without a trailer to locations for advertising
  • a dealership that allows us to take the car for the whole summer

Fortunately, we know a few car raffle experts, and that includes you, our ticket buyers! If you have a suggestion for our next raffle vehicle that fits our formula, please let us know. You can call Paulina at (860) 480-3270 or send an email to the library at: info@bakervillelibrary.org to submit your ideas.

In the interest of keeping some things familiar, there are no changes from last year to our 2023 raffle. We’ll sell 600 tickets at $100 each. You’re welcome to pay with cash or check, and credit card sales will incur a $4.00 per ticket charge to cover PayPal fees, which continue to increase each year.

We love to hear from you, so use one of the many ways to stay in touch: call the library at (860) 482-8806; text or call Connie at (860) 307-5285 to purchase tickets over the phone; visit www.bakervillelibrary.org; or stop by the library during open hours if you’d like to buy tickets in person. While we’re waiting to hear from you, we’ll be working on finding a vehicle for next year’s raffle.

Thanks very much to this year’s sponsors:
