For more than 180 years, the quaint home of the Bakerville Library has stood as both a touchstone of our common past and a threshold into the future we all share.

Summer Reading Program

Welcome to the New Hartford Summer Reading Club!

The New Hartford Public Schools, the Licia and Mason Beekley Community Library, and the Bakerville Library are collaborating again for the summer reading program. The Friends groups at each library sponsor the New Hartford Summer Reading Club. Children of any age may participate.

  • First visit the library and sign up. Bring your Summer Reading Journal or pick one up at the Bakerville Library.
  • Then read or listen to books for 20 minutes a day (or about 100 hours per week) over the summer, recording in your journal the time spent reading.
  • Visit the library at least three times during the summer and have your journal stamped by one of the librarians.

At the end of the summer, participants will get a paperback book of their choice and children 10 and under get a a free kids’ meal at Applebees.
